Service members may begin the transition process up to 24 months before scheduled separation. Service members are encouraged to begin this process 24 months before retirement and 12 months before separation. Additional Transition Two-day Tracks.

Transition GPS is a redesigned transition assistance program that ensures service members and their families are well prepared for civilian life. The program provides extensive tools, education and support needed for a successful transition from military service to the civilian community. In the Transition GPS program, service members and their families will assess what interests them the most in the workplace and learn how to increase their marketability so they may obtain a job in their ideal career field. Transition services are designed to make the move to civilian life smooth and successful.

Programs are geared towards assisting Sailors and family members find meaningful employment. Sailors and their family members can drop-in or make an appointment with one of our Work and Family Life Consultants WLFC in the event that they are not able to attend a workshop.
